STORYSOFAR I’ve wanted to be a writer since I was a wee thing, writing school plays, silly stories for my friends and more than enough dramatic diary entries before banning myself from keeping one. I love words, I want to invent news ones and see them entered into the dictionary. I’m fascinated with the mind- like how you’ll never ever know what the person next to you is thinking and how once you have an epiphany, you can’t take it back. I seem to have a lot of them, and if someone would pay me to change the world with thought I would happily die trying. My favourite quote is ‘The energy of the mind is the essence of life’ by Aristotle- philosophy is sexy and I’d like to read a lot more of it.
I’m intrigued by people, the media, sociology, popular culture and art in all forms- my favourite is modern contemporary art and design. I’m a disciple of Warhol and his concept that every day is art in itself- once you adopt this way of thinking, your existence becomes poetic and way inspired. I’m into marketing and branding but you probably couldn’t sell it to me. I appreciate bold understatements in off-beat contexts. Minimalism instigates my obsessive compulsive disorder, I like to write lists and prearrange my space. My life on the edge is procrastinating until an hour before deadline, adrenalin sparks supreme clarity and the moment of penning the closing line is my ultimate happy ending.
I love dancing and electronic music- it gives power to freedom of thought. Some of my most creative moments have been on a dancefloor and this ultimately drew me to writing about music, dance culture and then some. I’m nocturnal by instinct, fuelled by the energy of the night air- nothing makes me feel more alive than driving through a city after dark. I’ve started my first novel countless times in my head trying to fall asleep at night, one day I’ll wake up and do it for real. Other people’s boredom is gross and so is what’s on tv most days of the week- there are more books, films, music and people doing amazingly creative things than I’ll ever have time to appreciate, but I think about trying and that should count.
